Exceptional performance! If any other composer's name was on this great work, it would be hailed as a neglected masterpiece; but prejudice and cynicism still surround discussion of Liszt's music, not least his religious compositions. What a shame.

Really superb interpretation of one of Liszt's greatest works. Also, what a difference sensitive modern engineering can make: how wonderful to hear the dynamic nuances, both vocal and instrumental, and to feel the visceral impact of the great climaxes. The 1976 Hungaroton recording has served its role honorably, but inevitably sounds flat and constricted next to the depth and fullness of this moving rendition.

Thank you for posting this beautiful performance of a great work. First-rate recording, too: after years of listening to the piece through the sonic limitations of the old Hungaroton performance, how wonderful to have the visceral thrill of the big moments so vivid! In a rendition this impassioned and skillful, the neglect of the Missa Solennis becomes truly inexplicable.

Liking the tempo. Not to fast, but not to slow

A lovely setting of a lovely and elegiac national anthem. I loved the way that the organ goes from very soft to very loud, and I think that, surely hearing this piece as it is played here, would make any expatriate Hungarian living abroad want to break down and weep. Come to Britain, Mr Toth, and let us hear it played live on the finest organs in Britain, of Winchester Cathedral and York Minster! It's what a REAL national anthem should sound like!

Bravo! Eine hervorragende Aufführung - mit Intensität und Leidenschaft! Diese Musik hätte eine häufigere Aufführung in unserem Konzertleben verdient. Umso erfreulicher ist diese sehr engagierte Darbietung und Veröffentlichung.
